Santarém National and International Dog Shows

This past weekend we attended the two last dog shows of the year. The Santarém National and Internacional dog shows.

We entered Flames of Passion da Casa Mont'Alves - "Freyja" our baby laeken with 4 months and Isabela took her two babies, Gibeltarik a Killer Looks to Mont'Alves - "Killer" and Dachshund Shangri-La Plim da Quinta d'Abroeira - "Shangri-La". We could not be happier with the Results.

On Saturday Shangri-La was BOS, Killer was BOB and Freyja was Best Baby and BEST IN SHOW BABY 2nd !!!

On Sunday it was even better as, Shangri-La was BOB, Killer BOB and Best Of Group 2nd and Freyja was again BEST IN SHOW BABY 2nd !!!

Isabela sucesses in Gibraltar 2011

Apart from the Gib ch title with James, my super daughter Isabela got the Junior Ch Tittle with her Chihuahua Killer with a BOB on Saturday from Junior class and the top of it all was her winning the Junior Handler competition !!!!

Super Isabela !!! She did all this without any help as i was working has a ring steward !!!!

Natural Calcium

Probably many of our blog followers already know this, but i find it always interesting to share some of the things that each breeder does. Maybe it can be of some help to someone !!!!
In orderfor the puppies and Denyah to have a little bit of extra calcium i smash egg shells and mix it with the food. This is a natural source of Calcium that is eliminated in case the dogs do not need it. Much better then industrial supplements !!!!!

Lisbon 117th & 118th International Dog Shows

Last weekend took place two of the most important dog shows in Portugal the Lisbon shows.
It wa a super weekend with the cherry on the top being James - "Dancing with Wolves da Casa Mont'Alves" winning Reserve best in Group at the 118th show!!!! James is a male from Denyah's last litter and a half brother from Inzo the male that sired Denyah's current litter. Isabela, my super daughter, handled him to perfection.

Aucuri Agility Speed da Casa Mont'Alves was also present at the 117th show and was awarded BOB and she is now qualified for Crufts 2012. Congratulations to her owner Mario Duarte and to her handler in the breed ring Alexandra Teixeira.

Just for fun my wife Paula showed Isabela's Chiuhuahua, Killer. Well it turn out that the judge Gabriela Veiga appreciated him and he was awarded BOB from Junior class with a strong competiton in the ring

This weekend took place the 11th Beja National Show. For the first time we entered 4 dogs and all co-owned by Rui&Isabela&Henrique Alves Monteiro. It is a new land mark in our hobby. The dogs are co-owned by me and my children !!!! Isabela and Henrique could not go to the show and i had to be stewarding so unfortunately we could not show our dogs ourselfs. But who has friends has the most precious gift in the world and i am happy to be able to say that i have SUPER FRIENDS that are always there to help.
A big thank you for Susana Falardo Ramos that handled our GIBELTARIK KILLER LOOKS FOR MONTALVES bred by Lawrence Llamas to perfection. They both won the BOB and rocked at the Best Junior Male final being selected amoung the best 6 . Susana you are a natural and did a SUPERB job !!!!!!

Mariana Canaverde did a super job with DACHSHUND SHANGRI-LA PLIM DA QUINTA D'ABROEIRA winning her first CAC and BOS.

With CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR DEAR DA CASA MONT'ALVES took the BOB. Thank you Mariana, you are a super special girl that has an unique touch with dogs, Fidgi is not an easy dog to handle !!!!!

Since the dogs were many so had to be the handlers :) So our DANCING WITH WOLVES DA CASA MONT'ALVES, loved by Ivone Maria Paim for the first time in intermidiate class, handled by the great Raquel Colaço won his first CAC and BOB. In the gr...oup was superbely handled by Tiago Rafael Rafpride. James presented himself super well with the help of this two super friends. !!! It is not easy to handle a laeken that does not know us, but this two did it super super well !!!!! THANK YOU

It is great to be able to know that there are friends to help and support you when it is needed. Dog shows are great and specialy because it is where i have some of my great friends !!!!!!!

One day later then expected Qhila gave birth to her babies. She delivered them quite fast and with the end offered us a bonus of one extra puppy then the one's we saw in the ultra sound. She had 6 puppies.

2 Blue Merle Females, 2 Tricolour Females, 1 Blue Merle Male and 1 Tricolour Female. It is a super litter and i am very happy with the puppies.

Paula, me and the girls went for a weekend away in the Alentejo before Qhila deliver her babies. Time to relax before the big day and the busy days ahead.We started by visiting the Palave at Vila Viçosa

Denyah Best of Group @ the Arcos de Valdevez National Show

Although Denyah has been out of the rings this year, giving the turn to her son James to shine, and he is now the 3rd best puppy all breeds in Portugal, lets see what the next two shows reserve and if he can keep is ranking, I entered Denyah to a show last weekend.

The reason was that the judge is a BSD breeder and I always fell responsible to whenever a judge/breeder of our breed comes to judge in Portugal to present them my dogs.

And it was worth it, Suncica Lazic loved Denyah, did a super report on her and later on with a different judge Denyah won Best Herding Dog in Show ( Best in First Group).

It has a super happy moment to see Denyah on the highest place in the podium. And it was one of the highest entries to a National show this year 470 dogs and the group had 18 competitors …. It feels Good !!!

Thank you all my friends for the fantastic support for the Best in Show but maybe next time LOL!!!
